Freezer Paper Stenciling

I came across this craft in The Artful Parent, and thought it was really cool and fun. I don't think we have freezer paper here in Singapore and I wonder if there is an alternative material we can use? If you know of any, please share.

New Nest

This is a facade shot of our new home in Singapore. Its very different from our home in Australia, where there is a feeling of openness and carefreeness. This building is 3.5 stories with a roof terrace. There should be enough space and rooms for the four of us, but we need to organise the space well to minimise the use of the stairs. The ground floor is the Living, Dining and Kitchen. The second floor is the Master Bedroom and our study/Den. The third level is the children's rooms. The fourth level is a family room and roof terrace. It still amazes me that so much space (380sq.m) can fit onto this tiny block of 160sq.m.

Needless to say, Kel and I have been rather occupied with sorting through our belongings, getting rid of old furniture, buying new stuff and all the other cool stuff you need to do when you move house. We are now counting down the days till 'THE DAY' and excited about the new experience this house will bring us.

Rubber Stamps

Chinese New Year is fast approaching and with all the decorations that has been put up this time of the year, I have been inspired to make a CNY themed stamp. I have also tried my hand in making a lace patterned stamp. I used a Chalk coloured ink on brown envelope and thought the effect was pretty good.

Family Holiday at Bali

Our family went to Bali, Indonesia for a short holiday last week. Here are some photos of the resort we stayed at - Nikko Bali Resort and Spa.

The resort's pool is one of the nicest I've experienced. There is a beach pool with volleyball and basket ball facilities, a huge slide guaranteed to get your adrenalin pumping, pool bar and a hot jacuzzi.

View from our room..... fronting the Indian Ocean. Its amazing to see the calm waters in the early morning and hear the sounds of the ocean at night. So relaxing!

Hand Printed Gift Wrap and Card

Gift wrap and card set made using the rubber stamps I carved. It was fun, and the results were pleasing. :)

Kelsey's Shrug

Kelsey wanted a shrug and I found a great pattern on ravelry. The pattern has minimal seaming as the body is knitted in one piece. Kelsey loves the shrug and finds every opportunity to wear it! (We live in Singapore, where it's Summer all year!) The original pattern is for 3 months to 2 years but I've adapted it to fit Kelsey (9 years old) easily and opted for short sleeves. You can find the Free Pattern here.
